The 2022 British Grand Prix, officially known as the Formula 1 Lenovo British Grand Prix 2022, was a Formula One motor race held on 3 July 2022 at the Silverstone Circuit. The race was won by Carlos Sainz Jr. of Ferrari, with Sergio Pérez of Red Bull Racing and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes finishing second and third, respectively.
Circuit and Team Information
Silverstone Circuit is a 5.891 km (3.660 mi) circuit located in Northamptonshire, England. The circuit has been used to host the British Grand Prix since 1950, and it is one of the most iconic circuits on the Formula One calendar. The race was attended by over 350,000 fans, making it one of the best-attended races of the season.
The 2022 British Grand Prix featured all 20 Formula One teams and drivers. The teams included Ferrari, Red Bull Racing, Mercedes, Alpine, McLaren, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Haas, Williams, and AlphaTauri.
Race Highlights
Sainz took the lead on the first lap of the race and held on to win despite a late challenge from Pérez. Hamilton finished third, ahead of his Mercedes teammate George Russell and Red Bull's Max Verstappen. Verstappen crashed out of the race on the opening lap, marking the first time he had failed to finish a race since the 2021 British Grand Prix.
